The American College Alumni Association
Catholic University of Louvain

January 24, 2014

Dear Alumni of the American College,

Please join us for the 2014 American College Alumni Reunion to be held in Alexandria/Arlington, Virginia, Monday through Thursday, June 16 through 19.

Over the years the annual reunion has always been a great opportunity for friends and classmates to renew acquaintances and, of course, reminisce about our days in Leuven.  Since the American College has closed as a seminary, the reunion also provides an opportunity for alumni to keep the spirit of the College alive and to chart a course for ACAA to continue to provide a valuable service to the Church.

The base of operations for the 2014 reunion will be the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 901 No. Fairfax Street in Historic Alexandria, VA.  Reagan National airport is only a few miles from the hotel with a shuttle to the Crowne Plaza, or you can take the Metro (our subway). A special rate of $149.00 per night ($154 if double) has been negotiated with the hotel.  To register, call 1-877-227-6963 and the name of the group is: American College Alumni Association Reunion. You can also register to arrive early and stay longer at the same hotel rate. Of course, we will also provide a hospitality center where alumni may gather and enjoy conversation, beverages and snacks.

The schedule for the week is:

  • Monday, June 16, arrival and registration at The Crowne Plaza, a short tour of Georgetown University, and cocktails at Chet Gillis' (AC '77).
  • Tuesday, June 17, there will be a tour of the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum in Chantilly and an afternoon walking tour of historic Alexandria. Dinner will be at the hotel.
  • Wednesday, June 18, Our Alumni business meeting will be in the morning.  In the afternoon, there will be the opportunity for a variety of tours (DC, Alexandria, and/or Arlington).  We will gather at 5:30 PM for our Alumni Memorial Mass and Gala Banquet at my parish, St. Charles Parish in Arlington.
  • Thursday, June 19, we will host three educational sessions that you will not want to miss, conducted by John O'Malley, S.J., Chester Gillis (AC '77) and Gerard Mannion.

Our Reunion will provide opportunities for both relaxation and personal enrichment. Make your reservations now and return the enclosed registration form with your reunion fees as soon as possible, and no later than May 15, 2014.  For the latest information, and to find out who is attending, check our website at www.louvainac.org and www.acaalouvain.org.

I look forward to welcoming you to Washington, D.C.!!

Sincerely,
Rev. Horace H. Grinnell (AC '74)
